Biometrics has many advantages, where it is extensively used for security measures and identification purposes, making it ideal for our advancing world that uses technology for everyday uses. Biometrics has become so popular that it can add very advanced and secure security measures that multiple different types of technology, databases, and more.

Convenient and Efficient

Biometrics allows quick and easy access for systems, rooms/buildings, and devices; putting in pins and passwords takes’s up more time. Even unlocking places and devices with types of keys will take up more time than using Biometrics. It is user-efficient because placing a finger on a scanner or handprint is a lot more efficient than typing in a long password. Along with giving users is a quick and easy security measure, it is also very convenient. Users are not having to worry about updating their passwords every couple of months or carrying around a key for access reasons. Biometrics will give user’s the ability to access whatever they are using it for efficiently. Also, for Identification reasons, Biometrics allows for fast identification of that specific person instead of looking at passports/IDs and logging them into a machine. For airports, businesses, and even law enforcement, it saves lots of time trying to identify an individual.

Loss-proof and Reliable

Unlike other security measures, Biometrics is impossible to lose, making it a reliable piece of technology. A security measure like a password can be easily forgotten, primarily if that system or device had not been accessed in a long time; resetting passwords and remembering them take up time, making it not a very convenient type of security. Key’s and cards that allow access to certain systems and devices or places can also be easily lost or forgotten, and if that is the only way to access something it can almost be impossible to get back. By replacing all of those security measures with Biometrics will solve the problem of losing or forgetting something. Biometrics’ will save a lot of user’s time and stress when dealing with this type of problem.

High Security

Passwords, pins, and other security forms based on the computer can be found out by hackers and people trying to exploit the information. Many users who are not as knowledgeable about computer systems will not know the type of security they need to put in place to prevent these things. For example, they may not know that resetting their password will lower that chance, so that Biometrics can fix this. In terms of an individual's fingerprint, handprints, eyes, and faces, no other individual will have the same biology, making it transferable and very safe. Adding a fingerprint scan, handprint, or even facial recognition will add that extra security that only one person can access because it is specific to their biology, even if a password is still in place. An example of what people are skeptical about when it comes to Biometrics’s security is identical twins. Twin’s will still have different fingerprints, handprints, and eyes specific to an individual’s biology, but there is the question when it comes to facial recognition. They are many studies about this, seeing if the twin could access a device with the other twin’s facial scan. The chances are extremely low, even in identical twins, cause not each feature of their face usually is the same — an excellent study to read about why two professors’ can be accessed below to read more about it.

Conclusion

Biometrics significantly advances the security and identification world, making it very safe and secure for places and users. It is being used and talked about more worldwide, being integrated into new devices and systems like cars, businesses, and phones. Biometrics shapes the way the world sees security and makes everyday tasks, jobs, and devices more secure, making it a reliable and advancing technology.
